Overview

Textile Production in Bangalore - A group of designers and professionals has set up VIA design, a UK not-for-profit company with a base in Bangalore, that provides appropriate training, design assistance, and access to markets and produces appealing and unusual handmade craft products. Vision, Inspiration, and Accountability are at the heart of VIA~design which works in partnership with NGOs, producers, and individual artisans assisting with design, production, and marketing, especially focused on empowering women and the disadvantaged.
The Bridge Foundation (TBF) has identified the potential for another project and linked with the Central Silk Board of India for the production of eri
(wild) silk and the development of a high-quality textile products for the international market. TBF is managing the project for a range of exclusive products with VIA design and the Mahalir Aran Trust, both involved in the piloting and scoping, from the production of cocoons, including providing extra income for subsistence farmers, to the commissioning of designs by an Indian designer.
