‘Business Project’ is the name we use for any endeavour that
supports the aims of TBN. They will be very diverse in nature, but follow a
pattern of people engaging with the poor to help them improve their situation. One of the aims of the portal is to provide a ‘self-service’
type approach to information on projects. This means that the people running a
project can enter the information and keep it up to date. Clearly this takes a
bit of effort, so why do it? We see a number of benefits to entering a
project:-
- You can use the project to communicate to the people
involved in the project. Any announcements or new information is quickly
available in one spot.
- The project is made visible to TBN members and supporters. This
both helps you publicise the project, but also allows other contemplating a
similar project to learn from your experiences.
- The ‘HelpWanted’ section and the forums allow you to ask for
help, advice or information from the people who access this Portal.
- It also helps strengthen TBN’s cause by showing what
projects its members are involved in. This allows TBN to speak with more authority
on the use of business to bring change among the world’s poor.
- Coming soon: A
newsletter will publicise the latest HelpWanted requests and project
announcements to the TBN mailing list at regular intervals. This should help
bring your project to the notice of the whole TBN mailing group.
Once you have added a project you will need to keep the
information up to date. However this should be relatively straightforward.
